happy birthday!

We know everyone says it, but we really can't believe our baby is one! That first year flies so fast, and while we miss that tiny little newborn, we are so glad that Liam is one. He definitely has a little personality now. He is a ham at home, but quiet in crowds, sitting back and taking everything in. He has been walking for over a month now, and he is very steady on his feet. For the last few months, we have noticed that he is very intentional about everything he does. He plans things, and does them carefully. Even with walking well, he is careful about his steps, stepping over obstacles and sitting down to catch himself. He loves to clap, put his hands on his head when we say, "Oh, no!", and he kept his old tricks like shaking his head "no", waving, fake-laughing and crying, and "So big!". He is obsessed with clocks. When we come downstairs in the morning, he finds the clock and says, "k-k". He also says "kitty" (usually "k-k" but he is adding a bit more), and he says "car" pretty well". He loves those K sounds! He is very funny, from doing long, extended blinks with his eyes to make us laugh, to running around the house laughing, to scrunching up his face and making a "sh-sh-sh" sound, just for laughs. He loves to watch babies, kids, and Elmo, and will make high-pitched sounds reserved only for them.


He truly cracks us up and makes us proud. He is still very laid back and easy (usually!), and we love every day with him.

We decided to make it a tradition to go to Sesame Inn every November 22nd that we are in Pittsburgh. This is the last restaurant we ate as a couple, the night before Liam was born. Interestingly enough, it was also the first restaurant we took Liam to, when he was 3 weeks old. My fortune last night read: "Do not give up, the beginning is always the hardest". How perfect that would have been exactly one year ago, for parents about to bring home a newborn!
